Tips For Best Hooke Verse Performance
FAQ
Chances are the headset is not in “pairing mode”. If the Verse LED is blinking BLUE, you are NOT in pairing mode. You want it blinking red rapidly. To put your Verse into pairing mode, from an off position, hold the LED for at least 10 seconds until the LED blinks RED RAPIDLY. Then, you will see “Hooke Verse” under your phone’s Bluetooth preferences.
We are noticing a strange bug in iOS 13 where the iPhone shows Hooke Verse is “connected” but doesn’t show the “” icon in the upper right hand screen. When this happens, you can open BT preferences, click on the Verse (even though it says connected) and then the “
” icon will appear. It’s a weird bug, but Apple says they’ll have it resolved soon. In the meantime we recommend reseting your Verse to clear any BT cache that may have blocked up in the process. You can do this by pressing the small reset button with a pin located on the right behind the ear enclosure. We should have a resolution soon!
While holding the right earpiece with your right hand and the left earpiece with your left hand. Bring the entire headset behind your head so that the long cable is resting on the back of your neck, then hook the earbud memory wires over your ears and pop the earbuds in.
It is always best practice to first pair your Verse to your phone and THEN open the Hooke app. The app looks for a connection upon launch to start the session, so ensuring it is connected prior to app launch can help. To do this:
-
- Make sure the Verse is powered off
- Make sure the Hooke Audio app is completely killed and not running in the background on your phone
- Connect the Verse to your phone
- Open the app
If you are still experiencing issues:
- For iOS users, make sure you see a little headphone logo in the top right of your iPhone screen.
- If you do not see the headphone icon, reset the Verse by pressing the reset button (small hole on right behind ear enclosure) and repairing to your phone.

Yes, but only when recording audio only. You can begin an audio only recording, put the phone to sleep and in your pocket, and continue recording.
Jim Head is for when you want to capture 3d audio without wearing Hooke Verse. You can place Hooke Verse on this dummy head and record 3d audio without wearing the Verse.
We have developed a custom Bluetooth recording codec to allow Hooke Verse to capture wireless 3d audio to a smartphone. In order for this to work, our mobile app does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to receiving the wireless 3d audio codec. In order for a third party app to support Hooke Verse, they would need to support our wireless 3d audio recording codec.
However, there is a way to use Hooke Verse on 3rd party apps using the Hooke recording cable. Many adapters allow you to convert your Micro USB or Lightning port into a 3.5mm stereo input. Plug one of these adapters into your phone, then plug the Hooke recording cable into the adapter. The adapter will override your built in mic and allow you to use the Hooke Verse on that app via a wired connection.
