Tips For Best Hooke Verse Performance

1. It is very important that your phone is running the latest operating system and Hooke app version. If you phone’s OS is lower than the compatible versions we have listed on app pages, performance issues will occur.
2. If you have not power cycled your device in over 10 days, please do this as your device can store up Bluetooth Cache and affect performance.
3. Try to run as few apps as possible in the background when recording. Multiple apps running in the background during a recording can affect performance.
4. It is always best practice to pair your Hooke Verse to the phone and THEN open the app. When the app launches, it looks for a connected device to begin a session. If you have the app open in the background, then pair your verse, then open the app, this can confuse the device or build up BT cache (hence the reset recommendation) and cause issues. So we recommend having the app completely killed, pairing then opening the app.
5. Once the app is open and has a secured connection, we always recommend looking to confirm the “green ticks” are present before hitting the record button. Sometimes the app can open and appear ready to record before the mics have actually engaged. So please make sure the mics are engaged before hitting that record button!
If all else fails, reseting your Verse and repairing to your device can help clear bluetooth cache from previous pairs and improve performance. Do this by:
1. First, forget Hooke Verse from stored BT devices in your BT preferences on phone.
2. Turn off Bluetooth
3. Click the small reset button (located on the right behind the ear enclosure) with a pin.
4. Hold down the Verse LED button (about 10 seconds) until it flashes RED rapidly (this means it’s in pairing mode).
5. Turn BT back on on your device.
6. Click “Hooke Verse”
7. Freshly open app.

FAQ

Chances are the headset is not in “pairing mode”. If the Verse LED is blinking BLUE, you are NOT in pairing mode. You want it blinking red rapidly. To put your Verse into pairing mode, from an off position, hold the LED for at least 10 seconds until the LED blinks RED RAPIDLY. Then, you will see “Hooke Verse” under your phone’s Bluetooth preferences.

There are a couple of parameters that can affect Bluetooth performance:
1. Please make sure your phone is running the latest operating system.
2. Having multiple apps open in the background on your phone when recording can affect Bluetooth performance. The Hooke app uses a significant amount of processing power to stream pro grade audio wirelessly.
3. Make sure you do not have a ton of stored “remembered” devices under BT preferences. Eliminate those you are no longer using.
4. Put your phone in airplane mode during recording as some cell signals can interfere with the stream.
5. Full battery when recording helps, but is not essential.
6. This is a must when experiencing dropouts, reset your Verse. Press the small button with a pin located on the right behind the ear enclosure. Sometimes Bluetooth cache can store up and get clogged. A fresh reset always helps 🙂

We are noticing a strange bug in iOS 13 where the iPhone shows Hooke Verse is “connected” but doesn’t show the “🎧” icon in the upper right hand screen. When this happens, you can open BT preferences, click on the Verse (even though it says connected) and then the “🎧” icon will appear. It’s a weird bug, but Apple says they’ll have it resolved soon. In the meantime we recommend reseting your Verse to clear any BT cache that may have blocked up in the process. You can do this by pressing the small reset button with a pin located on the right behind the ear enclosure. We should have a resolution soon!

While holding the right earpiece with your right hand and the left earpiece with your left hand. Bring the entire headset behind your head so that the long cable is resting on the back of your neck, then hook the earbud memory wires over your ears and pop the earbuds in.

It is always best practice to first pair your Verse to your phone and THEN open the Hooke app. The app looks for a connection upon launch to start the session, so ensuring it is connected prior to app launch can help. To do this:

    1. Make sure the Verse is powered off
    2. Make sure the Hooke Audio app is completely killed and not running in the background on your phone
    3. Connect the Verse to your phone
    4. Open the app

If you are still experiencing issues:

  1. For iOS users, make sure you see a little headphone logo in the top right of your iPhone screen.
  2. If you do not see the headphone icon, reset the Verse by pressing the reset button (small hole on right behind ear enclosure) and repairing to your phone.

  1. After opening the app, wait a few seconds for the mics to engage and the pop up to go away. Sometimes it takes a second upon app launch for the app to recognize the connection 🙂

Any 5V USB charger rated at 200mA and above.

The recording cable is to be used with devices that do not have bluetooth:

  1. Pull the eartips off of the earbud
  2. Slide the microphone windscreen over the eartip so that the plastic knob of the earbud sticks through the windscreen hole.

Yes, but only when recording audio only. You can begin an audio only recording, put the phone to sleep and in your pocket, and continue recording.

Jim Head is for when you want to capture 3d audio without wearing Hooke Verse. You can place Hooke Verse on this dummy head and record 3d audio without wearing the Verse.

We have developed a custom Bluetooth recording codec to allow Hooke Verse to capture wireless 3d audio to a smartphone. In order for this to work, our mobile app does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to receiving the wireless 3d audio codec. In order for a third party app to support Hooke Verse, they would need to support our wireless 3d audio recording codec.

However, there is a way to use Hooke Verse on 3rd party apps using the Hooke recording cable. Many adapters allow you to convert your Micro USB or Lightning port into a 3.5mm stereo input. Plug one of these adapters into your phone, then plug the Hooke recording cable into the adapter. The adapter will override your built in mic and allow you to use the Hooke Verse on that app via a wired connection.

Try the eartips from:
Customers have responded well to both of those for replacement ear tips. Air3 fits up to 4mm. The verse measures 4.1mm so its a really snug fit but you don’t have to force them on. The large size is just slightly larger than the biggest that came with the headset.
